How would you get your city Olympics ready?
The Olympics give cities real opportunities for improving transit for everyone
We’ve interviewed a lot of leaders from upcoming or former Olympic cities and there is one thing they all have in common: using the Olympic Games to enhance transit for the city before, during, and after the Games. From the Canada Line in Vancouver, Metro improvements in LA, and Cross River Rail in Brisbane, the Games truly change the face of those cities.
Brisbane is set to host the Summer Games in 2032 and they are not letting the opportunity to level up their entire transit system pass them by. The Cross River Rail and innovative bus rapid transit (BRT) projects will make Brisbane’s transit smooth, efficient, and integrated into the city’s lifestyle.
As it happens, this week you have three great ways to learn all about what’s going on in Brisbane.

First, we have this week’s podcast episode with City Councillor Ryan Murphy telling Paul all about his city’s transit while riding one of their (very cool looking) CityCat ferries.
Then, you can see for yourself what the double-articulated electric buses look like and tour the Cross River Rail project on Transit Unplugged TV:
But that’s not all! We also have our Behind the Scenes episode from Brisbane where you get even more insight into Brisbane, its life, its culture, and everything going on with transit. Watch the uncut interviews from the Brisbane episode and I’m sure you’ll be packing your bags to visit:
Coming up next week on the podcast

Next week on the podcast our guest is Tom Drozt, CEO of Ben Franklin Transit in Oregon. Paul and Tom worked together at the Baltimore MTA and their shared history really speaks to the lifelong connections you make in this industry. Tom talks about his career, life, and a vision of people-centric leadership that he hope to instill into the leaders of tomorrow.
