Transit Unplugged TV Wins Bronze Telly Award for How Do I Get There? Washington DC Episode
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Award-winning travel and transportation series recognized for excellence in online travel & tourism storytelling
WASHINGTON, DC — May 22, 2026 — Modaxo Media Group proudly announced today that Transit Unplugged TV, the internationally viewed transportation and travel series hosted by Paul Comfort, has earned a Bronze Telly Award in the General – Travel & Tourism category for its episode, How Do I Get There? Washington DC.
The honor recognizes excellence in online video and television storytelling and places Transit Unplugged TV among an international field of creators and broadcasters recognized by the prestigious 47th Annual Telly Awards, which receives more than 13,000 entries globally each year.
The award-winning Washington, DC episode took a fresh approach to travel storytelling by asking a simple but powerful question: “How do I get there?” The episode featured host Paul Comfort taking the rider journey across the nation’s capital, highlighting how public transportation connects visitors and residents to iconic destinations and everyday experiences.
While Transit Unplugged TV regularly features interviews and behind-the-scenes access inside transit agencies around the world, this episode leaned more heavily into the passenger experience itself — showing viewers exactly how to navigate the nation’s capital using public transportation. The Transit Unplugged TV team rode multiple transit modes across Washington, DC, giving audiences a practical and immersive look at how transit connects people to destinations, culture, history, and experiences.
“This episode represented a creative shift for us,” said Paul Comfort, Host and Producer of Transit Unplugged TV and SVP & Chief Customer Officer for Modaxo Americas. “We wanted to complement the interviews and insider access our audience expects by showing people more directly how to experience a city through transit. Washington, DC gave us the perfect canvas to demonstrate how transit can unlock a destination and make it more approachable for everyday travelers.”
The production also introduced a more documentary-inspired filming style. For the Washington, DC episode, the team expanded its visual storytelling approach by bringing in an additional cinematographer, Sophie Cuadra, whose cinematic perspective helped shape a more immersive style for the program alongside Director of Photography Jaime Cuadra of Quadra Audiovisuals.
“We’re incredibly proud that Transit Unplugged TV has now earned its second Telly Award,” said Julie Gates, Executive Producer of Transit Unplugged TV. “Winning again reinforces that there is a critical recognition and a growing audience for stories that make public transportation approachable, engaging, and inspiring. It’s exciting to see our work recognized as we continue evolving how we tell mobility stories and connect viewers to destinations through transit.”
Unlike traditional transit documentaries, the episode featured only one formal executive interview — with Randy Clarke, CEO of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority — while allowing the rider experience to serve as the primary narrative.
The Telly Awards, established in 1979, are widely regarded as a premier honor recognizing excellence in video and television across all screens. This year’s winners include organizations and creators such as the BBC, Disney, PBS/Ken Burns, and South Park.
This marks the second Telly Award win for Transit Unplugged TV, continuing the show’s growing reputation for making public transportation, travel, and urban exploration engaging and accessible to broad audiences.
