Transit Unplugged TV Episode 4: Palm Tran, Brightline Trains, and more!To kick things off, Paul chats with the President of Brightline Trains, Patrick Goddard. Patrick discusses how Brightline’s service bounced back post-pandemic and used its time during the shutdown to develop Brightline Plus.
Brightline Plus is a door-to-door service powered by a fleet of eco-friendly vehicles, that allows travelers to get from their home, to the train station, to their final destination.
Next, Paul meets with the Interim Executive Director of Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA), Valerie Neilson, to discuss the role of TPA and how it interacts with local transit. We hear about their “5-6-1 plan” to help the county achieve a safe, connected, and multi-modal transportation system.
In our new segment, “How Do I Get There?” Valerie shows Paul how to use Circuit, an on-demand microtransit transportation system, to pick him up and take him to his next stop.
Finally, Paul hops on the bus to chat with the CEO of Palm Tran, Clinton Forbes. We hear about exciting developments at Palm Tran, such as the Smart Card or “Paradise Pass,” which implements a simpler fare collection system that allows riders to pay with anything on their person.
