Broward County Transit Takes a Compassionate Approach to Homelessness

Brightline breaks ground in Vegas, Broward County Transit addresses

homelessness with a compassionate approach, and Earth Day Canada is

giving away year long transit passes.

Today, Brightline West holds its official groundbreaking ceremony in

Las Vegas, bringing them one step closer to providing a two hour high

speed passenger rail service between Las Vegas and Southern California.

Florida's Broward County Transit is using a compassionate

approach to manage homelessness.

In November, they began a pilot program to address the issues of

unsheltered people at bus terminals, bus stops, and on vehicles.

With a team of outreach workers, BCT has provided over 300 people with

essential services and legal assistance.

And over 40, 000 people have signed up for Earth Day Canada's program, which

has Canadians commit to 10 sustainable commutes, like riding a bike or taking

public transportation instead of driving.

The grand prize includes a one year public transit pass.
